Shoaib Akhtar asks India for help, says he will forever be grateful

Former Pakistani fast bowler who turned commentator and YouTuber post retirement has requested Indian government to help Pakistan in these tough moments as the speedster believes it is not about religion or country anymore but it is about humanity.

Akhtar requested India to make 10,000 ventilators for Pakistan. He said, “If India can make 10,000 ventilators for us, Pakistan will remember this gesture forever.” He also proposed a 3 match series between these two countries in UAE to raise funds for fighting the pandemic in both countries.

“You are bound to get massive viewership for the games. For the first time, both countries will play for each other. And whatever funds are generated through this can be donated equally to the government of India and Pakistan to fight this pandemic,” Akhtar said. However, he also emphasized on the fact that he can only suggest these matches but it is upto authorities to decide whether to play the matches or not.

Akhtar though, didn’t talk about any particular timing about playing those matches as it doesn’t look possible in today’s scenario.

The fast bowler also expressed his disappointment over people in India criticizing Harbhajan and Yuvraj Singh for requesting people to donate to Shahid Afridi’s foundation. He said, “It was inhuman to criticize them. It is not about countries or religion at the moment, it is about humanity.”

Corona virus has impacted the lives of people globally and so far there has been more than 5700 reported cases in India with the graph going up everyday. Whereas Pakistan has also reported more than 4000 cases in their country. India has been in complete lockdown since 25th March to tackle the virus.
